Foreign Ministry: Ukraine welcomes adoption by UN Human Rights Council of Resolution "Human Rights Situation in Ukraine as a Result of Russian Aggression"

The document, synchronized with the UN General Assembly resolution "Aggression against Ukraine" approved the day before, confirms support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state, condemns the invasion of Russian troops on Ukrainian territory and calls for the withdrawal of all Russian troops from our state.

The resolution authorizes the establishment of a commission of inquiry whose mandate

includes the collection, documentation and preparation for trial of all human rights violations, war and other crimes committed by Russia during its armed aggression against Ukraine.

The newly created body, together with international courts, including the UN International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, will play an important role in bringing to justice those involved in Russia's crimes against Ukraine and its citizens since 2014.

The resolution was approved as a result of the urgent debate of the UN Human Rights Council "The situation of human rights in Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression", convened at the request of the Ukrainian side.

During the vote, the document was supported by 32 members of the UN Human Rights Council. Only two countries opposed it - Russia and Eritrea, which once again confirms the deep international isolation of Moscow.
