Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov held talks in Warsaw with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
For the first time in the history of the strategic partnership between the two countries, the talks took place in the format of a quadriga of foreign and defense ministers.
During the meeting, the U.S. leader, President Joseph Biden, came to the ministers in
a bid to develop a dialogue with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy."We discussed steps to further develop cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the areas of military and political support, as well as sanctions policy against russia," said Dmytro Kuleba.
According to the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, the United States will provide unwavering support to Ukraine on its path to victory over russian invaders.
"We talked about the concrete steps that the United States will undertake, that Ukraine and other partners will do to win this victory. We were looking for not only tactical, but also systemic strategic solutions that will help strengthen the global front of deterrence of the russian federation," the Minister stressed.
Dmytro Kuleba added that Ukraine and the United States had agreed to ramp up cooperation in order to close any opportunities for russia to circumvent the sanctions imposed on it.
"In parallel, we are working with the EU on the 5th package of sanctions against Russia. We give them the facts, names, company titles. European sanctions will be introduced in the near future," Dmytro Kuleba said.
The Minister also commented on the negotiations on Europe's renunciation of russian energy: "It is very important that Europe has refused to switch to paying for russian oil and gas in rubles. This is also a kind of sanction, as also a very important and fundamental decision."
The Minister assured that thanks to the support of the United States and our other partners, russia will not be able to break out of the sanctions environment.
