NATO Allies boost support to Ukraine

NATO Allies are boosting their political and practical support to Ukraine as it continues to defend itself against Russia’s full-scale invasion. Thousands of anti-tank weapons, hundreds of air-defence missiles and thousands of small arms and ammunition stocks are being sent to Ukraine. Allies are also providing millions of euros worth of financial assistance and humanitarian aid, including medical supplies to help Ukrainian forces.

Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the United Kingdom and the United States have already sent or are approving significant deliveries of military equipment to Ukraine. Ukraine has already received critical weapons, including Javelin missiles and anti-aircraft missiles, from NATO Allies, as well as millions of euros of financial assistance. Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Hungary, Iceland, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States are offering humanitarian aid or opening their borders to Ukrainian refugees. Croatia, Poland and Romania are already welcoming Ukrainian refugees. Italy is also providing immediate financial assistance to the Ukrainian government, and Turkey has deepened its defence ties with Ukraine and offered humanitarian aid.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said: “I welcome that Allies are stepping up to support Ukraine, with additional military equipment, financial assistance and humanitarian aid. Self-defence is a right enshrined in the UN Charter, and Allies are helping Ukraine uphold that right. This sends a clear message of NATO’s full support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

These additional contributions build on many years of NATO assistance to Ukraine. NATO has helped to train, fund and reform Ukraine’s armed forces and defence institutions since 2014. In the current crisis, the Alliance is helping to coordinate Ukraine’s requests for assistance and is supporting Allies in the delivery of humanitarian and non-lethal aid.

MFA: Ukraine filed a case against the Russian Federation at the International Court of Justice in Hague

Ukraine filed a case against the Russian Federation at the International Court of Justice, and a request for the Court to issue an order of provisional measures against Russia.  Ukraine seeks an emergency hearing and an order by the Court that Russia must cease its unlawful attack on Ukraine.  Russia will have to answer for its behavior at the World Court in the Hague.
The Court has jurisdiction to hear Ukraine’s case, and to order emergency measures, on the basis of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (“Genocide Convention”).  The Genocide Convention is one of the most important international treaties, drafted in response to the horrors of World War II and the Holocaust.  Russia, however, has twisted the concept of genocide, and perverted the solemn treaty obligation to prevent and punish genocide.  It has made an absurd and unfounded claim of alledged genocide as a justification and pretext for its own aggression against Ukraine and violation of the sovereignty and human rights of the Ukrainian People.

Ukraine’s case before the ICJ will establish that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is based on a lie and a gross violation of international law, and must be stopped.

As the Ukrainian People continue to bravely stand against Russian aggression, Russia’s lies will be exposed, and Russia’s contempt for international law will be confirmed.  Ukraine will bring Russia to account.

Address by the Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Hanna Maliar

The Russian Federation's invasion of our country is now on its third day. Primary targets and enemy attempts to succeed are not realised. The enemy takes heavy losses, and the enemy is exhausted. Its ability to replenish fuel, ammunition and food is compromised. It is essential to prevent this replenishment. The enemy is expected to exploit opportunities to replenish their supplies at the expense of civilians, commercial establishments, small and medium-sized businesses, mainly through looting, plundering, looting and other criminal means. The Armed Forces of Ukraine appeal to citizens to unite and resist as much as possible in their territorial communities.

Just In: Operational information at 00:00 on February 25 regarding the Russian invasion

According to Ministry of Defence of Ukraine;  Regular troops of the Armed Forces of the RF are conducting offensive operations in all areas of concentration. Ukraine's defense forces are holding back the Russian invasion. As of now, the enemy has not achieved the previously set strategic goals. Lacking sufficient forces, he was forced to prematurely bring into battle additional units of the second echelon and reserves.

The enemy does not stop trying to surround the capital of Ukraine. The Kyiv City Defense Forces are holding their ground.
The National Guard of Ukraine protects and defends the Vyshhorod hydroelectric power station, airports and other important infrastructure. In addition, all bridges, central heating networks and other critical infrastructure facilities have been taken under heightened protection in the city itself, and checkpoints have been set up on the roads.
The enemy is getting weaker every day, with every fight! On the contrary, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are becoming stronger every minute! Volunteers, reservists, participants of the territorial defense, everyone who took up arms, gives more strength to the Ukrainian army in the noble mission of protecting the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.
