On March 15, 2022, Ukraine submitted an official application for membership in the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST Association), and today, March 30, at the invitation of the President of COST Professor Alain Beretz, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine for European Integration Oleksiy Shkuratov and Director of the Directorate of Science and Innovation of the Ministry of Education and Science Igor Taranov took part in the 213th Meeting of the COST Committee of Senior Officials, during which item 8 on the agenda was determined the consideration of Ukraine's application.
According to the results of the voting, Ukraine became the 39th full member of
COST. Ukraine will soon receive an official letter confirming its membership."COST reaffirms its solidarity with Ukraine and its people. We will continue to promote scientific action for peaceful purposes, strongly condemning war and violence. COST, by providing opportunities for communication for researchers and innovators, can be a powerful weapon against totalitarianism. Therefore, we call for international efforts to ensure the security of Ukrainian innovators and researchers," said a statement on Ukraine's support for Russian aggression.

Therefore, COST is calling for international efforts to help ensuring the safety of Ukrainian researchers and innovators», reads the statement on Ukraine to support amid Russian aggression.
Among the strategic priorities of the COST are:
- promotion and dissemination of advanced science and excellence;
- empowering and supporting young innovators and researchers
- promoting interdisciplinary research for breakthrough science.
In addition, membership in this organization opens up an additional opportunity for Ukrainian innovators and scientists to join the COST Actions research networks, which offer an open space for international collaboration between scientists and give impetus to the progress of innovation and research.
It should be noted that within the Research4Life project, Ukrainian scientists gained access to electronic resources of the world's leading publishers.
