WHO Regional Office for Europe will help Ministry of Veterans Affairs and Ministry of Health to improve the system of rehabilitation of defenders

The Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, is forming a coalition of international partners to work together to meet the challenges facing the war veterans' rehabilitation system and the expected post-victory challenges.

This was stated by Deputy Minister for Veterans of Ukraine Inna Drahanchuk following

a meeting with representatives of the WHO Regional Office for Europe on Disability and Rehabilitation, which took place on Thursday, March 31.

The Deputy Minister stressed that for the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, both during and after the war, the priority in the veterans' rehabilitation system is to develop the capacity of the network of healthcare institutions that provide rehabilitation services. This includes strengthening multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams, improving the material and technical base of institutions, including rehabilitation equipment, and providing institutions with rehabilitation aids.

Also a priority is the development of rehabilitation areas specific to the consequences of combat injuries and the creation of capacities for the rehabilitation of Defenders in communities. The system of providing veterans with modern aids for rehabilitation and prosthetics will be developed, including through the involvement of foreign specialists and sending for prosthetics abroad.

In turn, the representative of the WHO Regional Office for Europe on Disability and Rehabilitation Satish Mishra during the meeting confirmed the readiness of the WHO to provide assistance in each of these areas and work closely with the relevant Ukrainian agencies.
