Update at 11:53pm: Azov commander urges world leaders to arrange evacuation corridor for civilians hiding at Azovstal plant in Mariupol.

According to Denys Prokopenko, hundreds of people, including women, children, and families of the Mariupol defenders are sheltering in the plant’s basement.

Update at 10:47pm: Powerful explosions are heard in Mykolaiv.

Update at 10:14pm: General Staff reports beginning of Russia's offensive in the east.

Russian forces stepped up offensive and assault operations in several directions in the east of Ukraine. Russia continues to form additional military units in occupied Crimea and in the bordering Rostov Oblast.

Update at 9:45pm: According to the Ukrainian military, Russia plans to attack the Azovstal plant with FAB 1000 and FAB 3000 aircraft bombs.

The plant is the shelter for civilians -about 1,000 people and many children among them.
