Ministry of Internal Affairs: National Police has registered almost 900 criminal proceedings regarding the enforced disappearance of 1,100 civilians

To date, the National Police has documented almost 900 criminal proceedings for the enforced disappearance of 1,100 civilians in territories that were de-occupied and are still remaining under occupation. This was announced today, April 18, by Deputy Chief of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine Serhii Panteleyev.

In addition, he noted that the police registered the facts of the illegal imprisonment of

544 civilians of Ukraine by the occupiers.

It should be noted that the National Police of Ukraine has opened a hotline for relatives of people either killed or missing as a result of the russian military aggression (phone number ️0 894 201 86). It operates around the clock and operators are ready to provide the necessary advice and clarify on the burial procedure.

In the occupied and de-occupied territories, the police has registered 2,750 civilian casualties (including 157 children).

Special working groups have been set up in the National Police and its territorial units to coordinate actions among different police units to search for missing persons and identify unidentified citizens.

In addition, the Central Office of the National Police has a special group for documenting crimes committed in armed conflict. The members of this group, within the framework of the criminal proceedings under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine initiated in the Main Investigation Department, document, analyze and systematize all evidence of war crimes committed by the military of the russian federation collected by investigators and other police officers.
