Dmytro Kuleba: Online archive of war crimes will help bring Russian criminals to justice

Together with partners, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has created an online archive to document Russia’s war crimes. The evidence gathered here of atrocities committed by the Russian army in Ukraine will ensure that these war criminals cannot escape justice.

The launch of this archive was announced on Saturday, April 9, by the Minister for

Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.

“Thousands of Ukrainians have been killed, tortured, shot by Russian soldiers. Civilians were executed with their hands tied behind their backs on the streets of Bucha. Women and children were raped and killed. The Russian army has shelled maternity wards, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, and humanitarian corridors. They have forcibly deported people to Russia. We carefully document every atrocity, every crime. We created a special online archive of these crimes for the world to know the truth, and for Russians to be held accountable for every Ukrainian drop of blood they spill,” he said.

The archive is already available at https://war.ukraine.ua/russia-war-crimes. The ministry will constantly update the archive data in cooperation with Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, international organizations and monitoring missions.

The archive documents war crimes committed by the Russian army in Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022. The crimes are divided into seven categories:

— Murder of innocents

— Attacks on civilians or civilian infrastructure

— Destruction of settlements

— Hostages and torture

— Illegal deportation

— Attacks on religion and culture

— Rape

The archive website immerses visitors in the horrible atmosphere of this war. To experience just a fraction of how Ukrainians have been forced to live for more than six weeks. To hear the sounds of air raid sirens, warplanes and missile strikes. To read the horrific testimonies of survivors.

“We will punish Russia’s war criminals for the atrocities they are committing in Ukraine. Not only the executors, but also the commanders who gave the orders and the entire military-political leadership of the Russian Federation. The online archive guarantees that Russians cannot hide the truth about their terrible crimes in Ukraine,” Dmytro Kuleba summed up.

The online archive is an integral part of war.ukraine.ua – the official resource about Russia’s war in Ukraine.
