On March 24, the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denys Malyuska during a working visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands took part in a special meeting of the EU Ministers of Justice, formed at the initiative of the United Kingdom to deepen cooperation in criminal justice sector.
During the meeting, the ministers exchanged views and agreed on steps to bring
the russian federation to justice for serious violations of international law in connection with its unprovoked aggression against Ukraine.Particular attention was paid to the opening of national criminal proceedings, the establishment of a joint investigation team, and the strengthening of the capacity of the International Criminal Court (ICC), whose prosecutor has officially launched an investigation into Ukraine at the request of the 41st state party to the Rome Statute.
The ministers stressed that war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the russian military in Ukraine should not go unpunished.
The Minister of Justice of Ukraine held short bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Italy, Poland and Latvia. Denys Malyuska together with the Ministers of Justice of the EU Member States visited Eurojust, which will play an important coordinating role in the investigation of russian crimes in Ukraine by national law enforcement agencies.
