Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporary Occupied Territories: Another group of Ukrainian citizens released from captivity has arrived in Kyiv

Another group of Ukrainian citizens released from captivity has arrived in Kyiv. This time, 85 military and one civilian were released in exchange. Among them – about a dozen women. The exchange took place by order of the President of Ukraine, within the activities of the National Information Bureau (NIB).

On commission of the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Reintegration of

the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk, the released were met at the Ministry. People must recover and undergo a medical examination before being sent home.

The Ministry recorded the memories of some of those released. Everyone is united by one desire: everyone is ready to return to the army as soon as possible and defend their homeland from the occupiers.

Background

National Information Bureau established in pursuance of the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, has the task of collecting - using all possible sources - and summarizing information on: prisoners of war, dead, missing, sick or wounded - both of Ukrainian and occupation troops. And also about illegally detained by the occupiers, including among the civilian population.

The Bureau operates in accordance with the norms of international humanitarian law, in particular: Art. 122 of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War (III) and Art. 136 of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (IV).
