In Bucha, Kyiv region, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, High Representative of the European Union Josep Borrel and Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger paid tribute to innocent civilians.
During an official visit to Ukraine, high-ranking EU officials and the head of the Slovak government saw the consequences of crimes committed by russian troops during the occupation of the town.
"Today the first mass grave was opened. The prosecutor's office and law
enforcement agencies are carrying out identification process. According to the city head, more than 160 victims have been identified so far. Almost everyone in the first grave - with bullet wounds. That is, they were killed by the russian aggressors and accordingly buried in this mass grave," said the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.The Head of the Ukrainian Government stressed that war crimes and crimes against humanity in Bucha and other cities of Ukraine require immediate action by the international community: "We count on the EU's support in bringing all perpetrators to justice."
The President of the European Commission noted that in Bucha they saw the horrible face of the russian war.
"We have seen the disgusting, ultimate terror the russian troops are spreading wherever they appear. We see that here is the border of the democratic Europe, which is defended by Ukrainian soldiers," said Ursula von der Leyen.
The President of the European Commission stressed that they had come to Bucha to express their solidarity and show that Europe and the world stand with Ukraine and will continue to support our state.
