Vadym Huttsait called on sports ministers of EU member states to unite efforts to counter russian aggression against Ukraine

On April 4, 2022, a meeting of the Council of the European Union on Education, Youth, Culture and Sport was held, including the impact of the war in Ukraine on the European sports sector.

At the invitation of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadym Huttsait took part in the event

The Minister called on European colleagues to counteract the audacious military

aggression that undermines the international legal order, in particular, to take measures together with sports organizations and financial institutions of the EU to continue the sanctions pressure on russia and belarus.

For its part, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, in cooperation with all members of the sports movement, draws the attention of the sports community of Europe and Europe to the devastating losses suffered by Ukrainian sports during the war and initiatives that can help Ukraine economically, politically, socially and strengthen influence on international structures in the fight against russian aggression.

"A large number of athletes and coaches have found themselves abroad and are trying to continue training. I am grateful to those of you who are already providing assistance to Ukrainian athletes in organizing training camps, and coaches - in employment in their specialty. In particular, the Ministers of Sport of Bulgaria, Finland and Poland have already responded to my requests for assistance in organizing training camps for Ukrainian sports teams. Dozens of sports federations of European countries have already received Ukrainian athletes and we are extremely grateful to them for this manifestation of true friendship and solidarity, "said the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

Vadym Huttsait called on his European colleagues, together with sports federations in their countries, to assist Ukrainian sports teams by providing access to sports facilities, providing sports equipment and inventory, involving sports teams in joint training and providing assistance to sports doctors.

The Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine also initiated the establishment by the EU Council on Education, Youth, Culture and Sports of a trust fund to support the reconstruction of the Ukrainian sphere of physical culture and sports.
