On Thursday (7 April 2022), NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg participated in the meeting of G7 Foreign Ministers (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and United States) to discuss the international response to Russia’s brutal and unjustified invasion of Ukraine. Organised by Germany, the meeting was held at NATO Headquarters, on the margins of NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting.
The Secretary General stressed the importance of unity in condemning the war and keeping the pressure on Russia. He thanked the G7 for the essential role it is playing in coordinating both sanctions on Russia and support for Ukraine, as well as in addressing the consequences of the war on global economy. He added that cooperation with like-minded democracies is essential to defend shared values and the rules-based international order.
The meeting of G7 Foreign Ministers follows a meeting of G7 leaders held at NATO Headquarters on 24 March 2022, on the margins of the extraordinary NATO Summit.
