Denys Shmyhal: The Recovery Plan and the Reconstruction Fund will be part of an initiative designed to unite the whole world in support of Ukraine

The plan to rebuild Ukraine and replenish the Reconstruction Fund was discussed by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during an online conversation with the President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Werner Hoyer.

The Prime Minister noted that, according to preliminary estimates, the total losses caused by the war will exceed $ 1 trillion in the coming years. The Government is preparing a

Recovery Plan for Ukraine and the architecture of the Reconstruction Fund, which encapsulatesthe following areas:

- support for the current functioning of Ukraine - wartime economy;

- economic recovery after the war - rapid recovery of critical infrastructure and services;

- further development and modernization of Ukraine - measures aimed at sustainable, rapid and sustainable growth.

"In order to implement such a large-scale plan, it is necessary to pool financial resources. The Recovery Plan and the Reconstruction Fund will be part of an initiative that will unite the whole world to support the reconstruction of Ukraine - United24, "said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister stressed that the Government considers the Bank's investment resources to be one of the priority sources for financing development projects. Denys Shmyhal also informed the EIB representatives about a number of stabilizing economic measures - solutions aimed at supporting people and business in times of war.

The Head of Government stressed that the EIB has consistently supported Ukraine.

"The bank provided timely assistance to the tune of 668 million euros, which was used to finance priority humanitarian and social expenditures. Our partners are also taking a proactive stance on severing all ties with the aggressor country and condemning russia's war against Ukraine. The Government praises these important actions and manifestations of solidarity with Ukraine and Ukrainians, "stressed Denys Shmyhal.

The EIB President Werner Hoyer dwelled on that the EU Bank - the entire EIB Group - is in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and remains actively involved with partners in efforts to support Ukraine.

"The world admires the courage and fighting spirit of Ukraine in the face of aggression. In cooperation with other EU institutions, we are ready to accelerate the transfer of an additional 1.3 billion euros in the coming months. Like the EU as a whole, the Bank is fully committed to supporting stability and a speedy recovery in a peaceful and independent Ukraine, " Werner Hoyer underscored.
