Like Anna Shcherbakova, they did what needed to be done here and now. Only 63 hundredths of a point separated the Olympic silver from the Olympic gold. Vladimir Morozov called this break "jewelry".
The professionalism and skill of the coaches is to prepare the athletes, let them start and adjust them so that at the right time they "shoot", and zhenya's team with Volodya succeeded! Throughout the season, the athletes were not flawless in the competitions, they allowed marks in one or another program, but in Beijing they gathered and were able to. That's why the ending of the ride was so emotional, when the skaters cried in their arms on the ice.
Vladimir: Now we already feel that we can exhale. There is such an emotional emptiness inside. I want to come to my senses and really enjoy this moment, that the Olympics have come to an end, but we have coped, we have completed our task. We did everything we could, yesterday and today. So we are satisfied with ourselves and our skating.
Eugenia: I'm just happy. I'm very tired. All these emotions take a huge amount of energy. We've been here for so long, from the very beginning, and in order not to spill everything out in advance, you keep everything in yourself for so long. And when you finish and finish well, there's an explosion ...
Vladimir: That it was all not in vain, and not even the last two weeks, but all the last four years after that Olympics, when we had great difficulties, problems, and banally there was not even ice the year before last, we had nowhere to skate. After the World Championships, we asked For Eteri Georgievna (Tutberidze – approx.). She took us, despite the fact that that she had her own group of girls, and the girls were aimed at the entire pedestal. But she still took, gave us time, helped. Her great merit, her team, is that she gathered specialists specifically to work with our couple. Alexey Tikhonov, Pavel Slyusarenko, Maxim Trankov, who has worked with us before... A very large team that helped us and works with us. And all this was organized by Eteri Georgievna, so we were just lucky that we got to her ...
From the very first moment, as the guys stood in a pair, they were called promising. But the road to Olympic silver was difficult and long. Tarasova - Morozov always remained in the shadow of other athletes in the group, on the team. And you had to have the strength, patience and motivation to keep going and moving forward. Finally, at these Games, everything came together. Tarasova - Morozov competed on the ice on an equal footing and fought with the strong Chinese Wenjin Sui - Cong Han, who had, as they say in football, the advantage of their field. But not even this is important, but the fact that Zhenya and Volodya defeated themselves, their insecurities, some fears and achieved their goal!
According to the skaters, they were well prepared for the Olympics. We felt confident in this season at the European Championships in Tallinn, where, according to Volodya, there was a good short program and not quite successful, with flaws, free skate. Returning to Moscow, the athletes continued to work at home, then went to the training camp in Krasnoyarsk, and on February 1 flew to Beijing, because until the last it was unclear who would perform in the team.
Vladimir: We were ready for a long time. We just kept in shape here and rolled, rolled out the programs. And today we came out and made our "ordinary rental"...
But he cannot be called a private. All the elements of the free program the guys made on the pluses - the 3rd salchow, the cascade of the 3rd toe loop + the 2nd toe loop + the 2nd toe loop, the ejections of the 3rd flip and the 3rd rietberger; twist, todes, support, spins – all to the 4th level. The result is "sisn best" – 155.00 points.
Vladimir: Eteri Georgievna always sets a bar for an athlete so that he can roll the program easily and when it is necessary. The rental of the program should be the norm. You come to training and skate. And over time it becomes really easy and in Beijing we did everything ...
Anastasia Mishina – Alexander Gallyamov created their history on the Beijing ice. The ascent to the Olympic podium for this young couple turned out to be rapid. Last season, the students of Tamara Moskvina and Artur Minchuk became world champions, this year they won the gold medal of the European Championship and went to the Games as one of the favorites. Prior to this, under the guidance of the coaches of the Velikovs, athletes sought junior medals. And in Beijing, they deservedly became the owners of their first Olympic bronze, making two clean skates. Before the individual tournament, the guys performed and fought for medals in the team.
Anastasia: When we skated the programs before and all the elements went well, there was probably a habitual feeling: if we do everything, then well done, we win. Here we understood that this would not work like this, so we are just happy that we succeeded.
- So you weren't upset?
Anastasia: Probably, if an athlete does everything he can, then there is still more joy. We will continue to work, and this third place gives us the motivation to work harder.
Alexander: We're glad that it ended on a good positive note. Every athlete would be happy with any Olympic medal, because it's a very worthy award. The pairs who took first and second place, skating was really amazing. They are competitive competitors, for which we are very grateful that we can compete with such already, dare I say, legendary athletes. For them, this is not the first Olympics. and we are honored to compete with them.
Anastasia: I would like to take revenge, but it depends on whether our rivals agree.
Alexander: But we're going to work to move on, to improve, so we're going to keep going.
In their free skate, Mishina-Gallyamov also gave their all. Cascade 3rd salchow – oiler – 3rd salchow, 3rd toe loop, triple flip and rietberger ejections, support, spin, todes, rotations – level 4. Athletes scored 154.95 and the highest technical score - 79.71 points.
European champions and medalists of the World and European Championships Alexandra Boykova and Dmitry Kozlovsky, unfortunately, failed to avoid marks in the free program on the Olympic ice. The cascade of the 3rd toe loop + 2nd toe loop + 2nd toe loop and the triple rietberger ejection were deducted. Skaters received 141.95 for the ride, which caused them questions.
Sasha commented on her speech in Beijing with tears in her voice:
- Our rentals were decent here. We presented the programs well. And if we talk about our work, we are satisfied with it. And what we saw on the scoreboard, everyone saw," Alexandra said.

According to the athletes, at the Olympics they lacked the energy of the hall, the emotions of the public, the fans.
- Due to all the Covid restrictions, the Olympics were predominantly attended by Chinese citizens. And like any citizen of any country, they, of course, support their own. That's right. This, I think, is the basis of the Olympic Games. It's like bringing nations together -- people come and cheer for their athletes.
In view of the fact that there were no representatives of other countries, including ours, not being able to enter China, the general atmosphere of the Games turned out to be very specific. Therefore, I would like to believe that the Olympics, which will be held in Milan, where we plan to prepare for the next four years, will be held at a covid level," said Dmitry Kozlovsky.
The winners of the Wenjin Sui–Cong Han competition at the box office of one of their best programs, Bridge over Muddy Waters, were not perfect. The skaters took a chance and went for the ultra-C -- quadruple twist, but made a mistake on the parallel triple salchow jump, which turned out to be two "jackdaws" -- in fact, double. Nevertheless, to the silver of the past Games, an experienced Chinese pair added the gold of the current ones.
In the doubles competitions at the Olympics, 19 duets were announced, but the Hungarians Yulia Shchetinina - Marc Magyar could not go on the ice because of the positive test of the partner for COVID, passed upon arrival in Beijing.
After covid, German figure skater Nolan Siegert skated, who competes with Minerva Fabienne Haze. The skater tested positive for COVID, which is why the pair missed the team Olympic competitions, but managed, as best they could, to perform in personal ones.
