As of February 26, 198 Ukrainians, including 3 children, had died from the hands of Russian invaders. So far, 1,115 people have been injured, 33 of whom are children. This was announced by Minister of Health Viktor Liashko.
The Russian occupiers are also firing on ambulances, despite the rules of international humanitarian law.
Meanwhile, the healthcare system continues to operate, and the Ministry of Health is doing its
best to ensure that hospitals are provided with everything necessary.“I am deeply proud of our doctors! You, along with the military, security forces and rescuers, are holding on incredibly hard! No hospital has been closed, all are working and providing medical care. None was scared and all the men look into the eyes of the enemy. We are on our land! We protect our families! Everyone is performing his/her duties at best they can!” the Minister of Health assures.
Viktor Liashko also noted that two boys had been born last night in Kherson in one of the maternity hospitals in the regional bomb shelter to the sound of explosions.
Separately, the Minister of Health stressed that every patient, regardless of the reason for hospitalization, should receive care. For example, when it comes to patients with COVID-19 in intensive care units, the state does everything possible to provide them with oxygen: negotiates with carriers and provides logistics.
