ISU Junior Grand Prix debutant Sofia Dzepka competed in the first leg of the competition in Xi'an, China. With a clean performance of her short program to the music of the ballet "Raymonda," Ekaterina Moiseeva's student scored 72.74 points and is in the lead after the short program.
Second place went to Karin Miyazaki of Japan with 67.21, and third place went to Yuxuan Liu of China with 66.72.
Sofia performed a double axel, a triple lutz, and a triple flip + triple toe loop cascade in the second half of the program.
