Polina Shesheleva and Egor Karnaukhov are first after the short program at the first stage of the ISU Junior Grand Prix series in Xi'an, China.
The students of Philip Tarasov and Dmitry Zobnin from Eteri Tutberidze's school skated their short program with distinction. Their lead over their closest competitors was nearly 12 points, although one of the elements—a death spiral—was disqualified because their partner shifted from the starting point of the element.
In second and third place were the duets from China: Yuxuan Chen - Yingbo Dong - 53.88 points and Wang Chen Ling - Chen Yong Zheng - 49.61 points.
