The Ministry of Social Policy will cooperate with the Ministries of Lithuania and Latvia to protect the rights of displaced Ukrainians, including children and persons with disabilities
The Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Maryna Lazebna held telephone talks with Minister of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania Monika Navickienė and Gatis Eglītis Minister of Welfare of the Republic of Latvia.
Maryna Lazebna thanked Lithuania and Latvia for their support in the political sphere, on
the information front, in providing humanitarian aid and assistance to people who are forced to temporarily move from the hottest places of hostilities.The Minister said more than 2,000 civilians had been killed in the war, more than 200 schools, 34 hospitals and more than 1,500 homes had been destroyed. About 3 million people have been forced to flee their homes and move to safe places inside or outside Ukraine. In hundreds of cities under enemy fire, people are without electricity, in some places without water, gas, access to food and medical care. At the same time, the Russian military continues to shell and does not provide humanitarian corridors to help people.
During the talks, the parties agreed to sign bilateral memoranda of cooperation on the order of temporary stay of Ukrainian citizens in Lithuania and Latvia, ensuring their priority life needs. Special attention will be paid to displaced persons with disabilities and children, their registration and exchange of data on their stay and provision, including medical and psychological services.
