With Agentic POBO, fintechs and marketers can pay a supplier in Asia on behalf of their client, without opening a virtual account, on the same day.
MEXICO CITY, MEXICO, October 19, 2026 / EINPresswire.com / -- Kira, an AI-powered agent platform for international payments , launched Agentic POBO (Payments on Behalf Of), the first product in what the company calls agent banking: rules, permissions, and
authentication for AI agents to execute financial transactions within limits defined by humans. With this service, a fintech company or trading company can pay a supplier abroad on behalf of its client without opening a virtual account or repeating their Know Your Customer (KYC) verification. Kira claims it is the first solution of its kind in the Americas.Paying on behalf of a third party is one of the most challenging operations in international trade. Banks reject transfers when the payer's name doesn't match the invoice name, or when the supplier's bank requests documents the sender doesn't have. Many importers are SMEs that purchase through fintech companies or trading companies, a profile that banks typically avoid. The usual alternative, opening a virtual account for each client, can take up to a week.
Add to that the MT103, the bank receipt that confirms an international transfer has been made and which suppliers in China typically require before releasing the goods. Currently, it takes around three days to arrive.
With Agentic POBO, an AI agent verifies that the payer's name matches the invoice, gathers the documentation the receiving bank will require, alerts in seconds if anything is missing, and selects the bank route. Kira's compliance team reviews and approves each transaction, and all payments must be supported by an invoice. The transfer is settled via SWIFT on the same day, instead of the usual 72, and the MT103 arrives the next business day.
“As an international trade platform, we couldn’t pay a supplier on behalf of our client. The banks simply wouldn’t process it. A standard SWIFT transfer took about 72 hours, and the MT103 notification arrived up to three days later, so our clients had to wait almost a week to prove they had paid. With Kira, the payment is issued in our name, settled the same day, and the MT103 notification arrives the next day,” said Gabriela, CEO of Outsource X.
The service is designed for trading companies and foreign trade firms, fintech companies that serve importers (especially those buying from China), payments between companies within the same group, such as a company in the United States paying an Asian supplier on behalf of its Latin American subsidiary, and recurring payments to overseas suppliers, such as travel agencies.
“Paying a supplier on behalf of a client is something most fintech companies can’t offer because banks either reject the payment or require opening a separate account for each client. Our agents prepare the compliance documentation and choose the best banking option in seconds, and our team provides the final approval,” said José Alberto Díaz, COO of Kira.
According to Díaz, such a solution didn’t exist for three reasons: the financial infrastructure was designed for developed economies, the agent economy is only just emerging, and international trade companies, especially SMEs, are a client base that traditional banks don’t serve very well.
“Banking was designed for only one type of user: people. Now, AI agents are arriving. Large global banks don't know how to serve these users because their infrastructure was built for a different world. We do, because Kira is an AI-first company that builds financial services from the ground up for this new generation. Agentic POBO is the first banking product made for agents, with rules and permissions defined by people. An agent moves at the speed of software, but in money, trust isn't installed, it's built. That's what we're building at Kira,” added Nicolle Hazard, Head of Product at Kira.
So far in 2026, Kira has processed more than $1 trillion in payments, with active clients in the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Bolivia, Panama, Argentina, Canada, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates, among other countries. These include Spin by OXXO, which processes its remittances from the United States to Mexico.
About Kira:
Kira develops the first AI-powered agent platform for cross-border payments. Their agents open bank accounts, analyze KYB documentation, respond to bank information requests, and track every payment. Decisions are made by people; money moves at the speed of software, not email. In its most recent funding round, it raised $7 million.
