SOUTH KOREA: Korea's ECOCORK is introducing natural cork material to new outdoor applications

ECOART Landscape has developed a cork material technology that combines water permeability, flexibility, and real-world project experience.

SOUTH KOREA, October 16, 2026 / EINPresswire.com / -- SEOUL, South Korea — As the demands for urban outdoor materials change, the use of natural materials is creating new opportunities.

ECOART Landscape Co., Ltd. of Korea is developing a technology to use natural cork

materials for walkways, playgrounds and other outdoor paving through the ECOCORK brand.

According to ECOART Landscape, ECOCORK uses a technology to treat the surface of cork chips with a water-based coating and improve their adhesion to a urethane binder. This treatment is designed to reduce the problem of cork chips falling off and cracking during contraction and expansion caused by temperature changes.

The company’s published test data indicates that ECOCORK has a water permeability coefficient of 5.4 mm/sec or higher. It also presents test results that show no lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and mercury were detected.

ECOART Landscape has been combining product development with real-world applications. The company's cork paving projects have been implemented in parks, sidewalks, playgrounds and other public spaces in the Republic of Korea.

ECOCORK received the Korean KS certificate in 2024, and ECOART Landscape registered its patent for cork flooring and paving materials in 2023.

The company aims to further expand the use of ECOCORK to the international market based on its material technology and project experience accumulated in the Republic of Korea.
