The Grand Prix final has been postponed to the end of the season, the ISU will inform about the new dates in the near future

The Japan Speed Skating Federation (JSF) has informed the ISU that the 2021 Grand Prix Finals, which are scheduled for December 9-12 in Osaka, Japan, may not be held as planned.

"Unfortunately, given the difficult epidemic situation related to travel restrictions, quarantine requirements, security measures and logistical problems, the organization of the event was extremely difficult. The Japan Speed Skating Federation and the

local organizing committee struggled to find solutions, but eventually concluded that, unfortunately, they could not organize and hold the event as planned.

The ISU regrets that holding the event in Osaka in December at a later date is not possible. The ISU will consider holding the event at the end of the season and make a decision as soon as possible. The ISU thanks the Japan Speed Skating Federation for their efforts and cooperation," the International Skating Union said in a press release.

Recall that 70 skaters were to take part in the Grand Prix final, of which 39 Russians - 16 adult athletes and 23 juniors.
