Mark Kondratyuk for the first time in his career won the title of champion of Russia, Mikhail Kolyada rose from fifth place to second, and Andrey Mozalev jumped from eighth to podium. Competitions in men's single skating at the Russian Championships in St. Petersburg kept the intrigue until the very end. Only after the rental of Evgeny Semenenko, who completed the performances of men, the composition of the winners of the championship became clear.

- I didn't expect this result. There are no emotions yet, rather, I am just in shock.

When asked by journalists about the new leader in the Russian team, Mark replied:

- I don't think I'm the leader of the national team. Today it is possible, but not at all. The leader of the national team sits to my right, and Mark nodded in the direction of Mikhail Kolyada.

In the new costume for the free program, which further emphasized the ballet theme and was sewn literally on the eve of the Russian Championships, Kolyada performed 4C, 4T + 3T, as well as two 3A. Kolyada won his sixth medal at the Russian Championships – now he has three golds and three silvers in his collection.

- I have mixed feelings. Not everything worked out, but, as I said earlier, this is a good incentive to work further. So far, this program has not acquired the look that I would like, because it was only two weeks to rebuild back. It's difficult, - Mikhail admitted.

The student of Kirill Davydenko performed three quadruple and five triple jumps and fell only on the second 3A. The 2020 World Junior Champion became the second in the free program (187.30) and for the first time climbed to the podium of the adult championship of Russia, scoring 278.28 points, which provided a bronze medal.

- I didn't expect such a result, because it was not a clean ride - I fell on a triple axel. So I can't call the rental good, - the athlete admitted.

Evgeny Semenenko, who was in the lead after the short program, may not have coped with emotions - in the Olympic season at the qualifying tournament it is quite difficult to abstract from unnecessary thoughts that can interfere. The champion of Russia among juniors in 2021 fell by 4T at the very beginning of the program to music from the film "The Master and Margarita", but gathered, jumped 4C and 4T + 3T and missed the chance for a medal after the "butterfly" at 3A. As a result, fourth place with a score of 274.28 points.

Petr Gummenik gave a decent rental of his "Spartak", with 4T and 4C + 2T + 2P, which made it possible for the student of Veronika Dayneko to rise from seventh place to fifth (267.45 points).

- There is a sense of satisfaction from the free skate, because he showed everything that he is capable of at the moment.
