In a new study, Betano analyzes which national teams have stood out in recent years due to particularly intense playing styles.

For this reason, Betano analyzed international matches to determine which national teams received the most red and yellow cards and committed the most fouls during the study period.

Cameroon takes first place with an index score of 79.80 points. The analysis shows that the national team recorded particularly high average fouls, yellow cards, and red cards per game during the period under review.
The Netherlands follows closely behind with an index score of 73.83 points. Dutch matches were also frequently characterized by a high number of fouls and cards.
Ghana completes the top three with 67.34 points. This team also ranks among those with high average fouls, yellow cards, and red cards per game.
Other nations represented in the top 10 are Australia, Uruguay, the Czech Republic, and Russia.
Germany ranked 29th out of 48 analyzed teams, Switzerland 28th, and Austria 33rd.
Incidentally, Peru, Spain, and England occupied the bottom spots in the ranking, representing the teams with the lowest index scores during the period under review.
The results show how differently national teams can conduct their matches. While some teams are more frequently characterized by intense challenges and cards, others rely more heavily on a less physical style of play.

Methodology:
The analysis encompasses international matches of national teams since 1966 and examines which teams exhibit particularly high values for match-related intensity factors during the period under investigation.
Three factors were considered: average fouls per match, average yellow cards per match, and average red cards per match.
The individual factors were weighted differently. Fouls accounted for 25 percent of the evaluation, yellow cards for 35 percent, and red cards for 40 percent.
The values were then scaled and combined into an index. A higher index value indicates a greater presence of the examined match intensity factors.
