Russian pairs competed for the first set of medals at the European Championships in Tallinn. Anastasia Mishina – Alexander Gallyamov won the tournament, updating three world records at once. Evgeniya Tarasova – Vladimir Morozov won silver. Alexandra Boykova – Dmitry Kozlovsky – bronze.
World champions in pair skating Anastasia Mishina - Alexander Gallyamov won their debut European Championships. After the success in Tallinn, only one medal of the Olympic Games is missing in the collection of figure skaters' awards - the most important in the career of any athlete.
On the ice of the Tondiraba arena, the skaters scored the highest scores not only among
the participants of the European championship, but also set new benchmarks in the world pair skating. Now Mishina - Gallyamov owns three world achievements: in the short program - 82.36 points, free - 157.46 and in the sum of the two programs - 239.82.
"We are doing everything wrong, we start with more – winning the World Championship and then the Russian Championship, now the European Championships," Anastasia laughed.
- Of course, we are glad that we won these competitions. We managed to perform about as cleanly as at the last tournament. We tried to skate at the level, to show clean skating, so that it corresponded to the highest bar, - admitted Alexander.
- We haven't watched the grades, the breakaways from the others yet, but I knew that the guys skated well, rather, even cleanly. In fact, it is nice that you can compete on an equal footing, get high marks with all three, - added Nastya.
"When everyone is skating cleanly, that's the sporting interest," the partner said.

According to the winners, competing with Russian pairs, they do not forget to follow the results of other opponents. Alexander did not hide the fact that he was very impressed by the video of the quadruple twist performed by the Chinese pair Sui Wenjing - Han Cun.
- They also do not sit evenly, they are improving, they are doing everything to compete with us, and we are doing everything to compete with them. We are waiting for an interesting struggle, - Explained Alexander.
- We have reached the finish line. After the European Championships, a few days at home, then the training camp in Krasnoyarsk and flew to the Olympics. We're not going to guess anything. But we will make every effort," the athletes promised.

Two-time European champions Evgenia Tarasova - Vladimir Morozov won their third silver medal at the European Championships, and a total of seventh. In Tallinn, experienced skaters demonstrated their best skates in the season, updated three personal records at once: in the short program - 81.58 points, in the free skate - 154.85 and in total - 236.43 points.

When asked what helped to roll out the free skate almost cleanly, Vladimir Morozov joked: the costumes were changed. In fact, from start to start, Tarasov-Morozov skate programs more confidently, which affects the impression of the rentals.
- We were very charged today. Eugene was even ready to do a quadruple jump. Twisted a little on the first triple salchow, then calmed down, gathered, - commented the partner with a smile.

All non-jumping elements skaters made to the fourth level, coped with the cascade 3T + 2T + 2T and allowed only a small mark on the first 3C.
Not quite successful rental of the short program motivated Alexander Boykov - Dmitry Kozlovsky to gather for free skating and skate without marks, receiving 150.97 points and a total of 227.23. That wasn't enough to climb above third place. The reigning European champions won their second bronze and third medal at the European Championships.

- Of course, it wasn't easy. I had to pack up, disconnect from what had happened the day before. But today we succeeded. We demonstrated a decent rental, a decent level of skating. We are glad that we coped with ourselves. And this is the most important thing, - Dmitry admitted.
When asked what was more difficult, to win the gold of the European Championship 2020 or to confirm this title, Dmitry answered as follows:
- The previous European Championship was so long ago that we didn't even think about it. It was like in another life...

After the second day of competition at the European Championships in Tallinn, Russian skaters have three medals - gold, silver and bronze. On Friday, the second set of awards will be played by men. On Saturday, dancers and girls.
