Kamila Valieva won the short program at the European Championships in Tallinn, setting a world record, Alexandra Trusova - third, Anna Shcherbakova - fourth

Russian figure skaters take first and third place after the short program at the European Championships in Tallinn: Kamila Valieva leads, setting a new benchmark in the world women's single skating - 90.45 points. Alexandra Trusova is third (75.13). Anna Shcherbakova – fourth (69.05). In second place is figure skater from Belgium Luna Hendricks (76.25).

With her worthy short program, the debutante of the European Championship, world junior champion Kamila Valieva removed all questions about leadership after the first day

of competition. The 15-year-old figure skater, along with her coaches, has found her own key to the right attitude to the starts, which she demonstrates this season. Student Eteri Tutberidze performed the short program with the 3rd axel, 3rd flip and cascade of the 3rd Lutz + 3rd toe loop in the second half of the program, updated the "sisn best" and the world achievement, scoring 90.45 points.

After the ride at her first career senior championship, Camila looked happy and satisfied with the result, perfectly commented on the performance, correctly dotting the "i".

- Today I really felt that I was on the program, that I was telling a story on the ice. It's such a nice feeling when you forget about the physical condition, you skate for the audience, for the judges. There is such enthusiasm after skating - that you get up for hire with only strength, and after the rental of strength even more ...

The new world record means for me that I train not in vain, it is not for nothing that every day I go to training, roll elements. For me, rather, it is an incentive to work further. Of course, I'm glad that I managed to score 90 points for the short program. But, as Eteri Georgievna says, one should not underestimate the rivals. If an athlete reached this level, it means that he worked just like you. Maybe today the girls did not succeed. But that doesn't mean they won't continue to work...

It's very good that we have competition in the group. When you go out to practice, everybody does something. The same Maurice Kvitelashvili, although he does not represent the Russian team. But you look at it, you look at what the girls are doing, and immediately there is a mood to continue to work, to move on, not to stop there...

I can't say that the European Championships are not an important start – it is an important start for me. And here is the same schedule as it will be at the Olympic Games. And I have a feeling that here you can test yourself, go out and do what you've been training for. And if I collect such content that I now have declared, show it at competitions, then I can do it. For me, this championship is certainly like a test before the Olympics. But the European Championship is also very important for me, - commented Camila.

The bronze medalist of the European and World Championships Alexandra Trusova, who opened the last warm-up in Tallinn, fell on the 3rd axel, but all other jumping elements - 3rd flip, cascade 3rd lutz + 3rd toe loop made a plus.

- Sorry it didn't work out. It's a shame it doesn't work out yet. But I will work as always, - Alexandra admitted after the speech. - I didn't think to give it up at the box office. Either way, I'll get a triple axel someday. The more joyful this moment will be.

World champion and silver medalist of the European Championship Anna Shcherbakova after the short program is 4th. The athlete made a mistake on the 3rd lutz and was left without a cascade, before that she made the 2nd axel and the 3rd flip. Anna, of course, was upset, but went to the journalists and commented:

- It's too early to say anything. Of course, I'm not happy, because the cascade didn't work out. We'll see. It's not a technical problem, but rather a problem in my head. I won't say anything about the free skate yet. Tomorrow is another whole day of training. We'll look at my condition.

The winners of the women's tournament will be determined on January 15, after free skates that will complete the competitive program of the European Championship 2022 in Tallinn.
