MACAO: Optimisation works of pedestrian walkway in Arts park complete, adding over 1,000 square metres of green area

MACAU, October 5 - To further optimise the road-crossing environment for pedestrians in Arts Park and the surrounding areas, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) recently carried out optimisation works of the pedestrian walkway of Arts park. About 1,100 square metres of green space was added to expand the green area and provide the public with a comfortable leisure and road-crossing space. The opimisation works were completed and the area will be open tomorrow (1 October).

The works department and IAM carried out adjustments in parts of Arts Park late last year. A pedestrian platform was added to provide convenience for the public to walk between Zona de Aterros do Porto Exterior (ZAPE) district and Zona Nova de Aterros do Porto Exterior (NAPE) district, as pedestrians do not need to take a longer route around the park. To further optimise the road-crossing environment for pedestrians in Arts Park and the surrounding areas, IAM recently carried out the optimisation works of pedestrian walkway of Arts Park, which include using anti-slip permeable tiles or Portuguese-style paving stones to pave the pedestrian walkway, removing part of the park fence to improve accessibility and optimise the barrier-free walking environment. Furthermore, the illumination equipment, irrigation system and layout of the flowerbeds were also optimised. Flowering plants, such as Allamanda neriifolia, Caesalpinia pulcherrima and Quisqualis indica, were planted. About 1,100 square metres of green space was added to further expand the green area and create a more pleasant urban environment. In addition to strengthening the purpose of Arts Park as the green hub of the district, a more spacious and comfortable passage environment will be provided for the public after the optimisation works.
