On November 17, 2026, the Big & Growing New Work Festival will take place in its founding city for the first time since 2022. It is organized entirely by volunteers.
The day is designed from beginning to end for exchange and interaction. Those who attend don't sit in the audience, but contribute their own ideas.”
— Romy Möller
MUNICH, BAVARIA, GERMANY, October 5, 2026 / EINPresswire.com / -- It began in 2019 in Munich as an in-person event with 1,500 attendees. During the pandemic year of 2020, the then Bavarian Minister for Digital Affairs, Judith Gerlach, opened the festival
with prominent speakers such as Max Wittrock, Zarah Bruhn, Christian Kroll, Anna Kopp, and Lena Marbacher. Today, there are chapters in cities including Leipzig, Hamburg, and Stuttgart. On November 17, 2026, the Big & Growing New Work Festival returns to its birthplace for the first time since 2022: the Bavarian capital. What makes it special is its organizational structure. The festival is not a commercial event, but a citizens' initiative for New Work. Each chapter is independently organized by volunteer chapter leads who determine the program and focus themselves. Ticket revenue covers venue and catering costs; no profits are generated. The initiative was founded in 2019 by Dr. Tina Ruseva , who donated the 2024 festival to the German Federal Association for New Work (Bundesverband New Work e.V.), is organizing
the festival. The festival's mission statement is outlined in a public manifesto: bigandgrowing.com/manifesto. This year, Romy Möller is hosting the festival in Munich. She works as a coach for leadership and organizational development, bringing together leaders from business, administration, and education so they
can learn from each other. What makes this unique is that Romy is a former teacher. "Work can be characterized by appreciation, meaning, and potential. It should empower people instead of draining them," says Möller. "I'm driven by the question of leverage: Where can an individual make the biggest difference? That's precisely what this day is about."
Participants are catalysts, not just spectators.
The program format reflects this approach. The morning is dedicated to six deep-dive workshops, each beginning with a brief external presentation followed by collaborative work. Topics range from AI and knowledge work to transformation and the impact of physical space, all the way to organizational longevity.
In the afternoon, six Open Space Labs will follow, each focusing on the central question of what work will look like in the future: Future Leadership, Healthy Organization, Technology, Belonging, Societal Impact, and New Learning. Participants choose their lab and can switch between them during the open session.
The day concludes with the panel discussion "Reality Meets Perspective." Speakers from business, education, and administration will share their insights into what the future of work actually looks like today. Instead of formulas for success, the focus will be on honest perspectives, followed by a discussion of the questions that arose throughout the day. The day will then wind down with wine and networking.
“The impetus comes from the people in the room,” emphasizes Möller. “The entire day is designed for exchange and interaction. Those who attend aren't passive listeners, but contribute their own ideas.”
The number of participants is deliberately limited to around 60 people to ensure this kind of collaborative work remains possible.
