The US company is demanding reimbursement from the State of Honduras for the freight and insurance costs it incurred during the COVID-19 health emergency.
TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS, October 1, 2026 / EINPresswire.com / -- VERTISA Corporation, formerly ELMED Medical Systems, Inc., a U.S. company specializing in infrastructure projects, systems, and medical equipment, clarified its position today
regarding the transfer of seven mobile hospitals from Turkey to Puerto Cortés, Honduras. The operation was coordinated by the company in 2020 at the request of officials from the Honduran entity INVEST-H during the COVID-19 health emergency. The
purchase orders issued by INVEST-H stipulated "Ex Works" (EXW) terms. Under this international trade term, the buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for the transport of the goods from the seller's facilities. VERTISA maintains that, according to the agreed-upon terms, the freight and insurance for the hospitals were the responsibility of the State of Honduras.
A Good Faith Contribution During an Emergency:
Faced with logistical difficulties stemming from the pandemic, VERTISA assumed the costs of international transport, cargo handling, and associated insurance to ensure the units arrived in the country, even assisting in hiring local help for the installations. The company describes this contribution as a collaborative effort in good faith with INVEST-H and the Government of Honduras to complete the delivery at a critical time for Honduran public health. The seven projects were transported and received in Honduras in 2020.
The international transport of medical infrastructure requires coordinating various stages: shipment preparation, transport conditions, cargo protection, and final reception at the destination. For VERTISA, logistics is a fundamental component of any international project, and the company considers it essential to address these needs from the planning stage of each project.
Reimbursement Claim:
The freight and insurance costs assumed by VERTISA have not been reimbursed. With this clarification, the company seeks to explain the scope of its involvement in the shipment and ensure that the State of Honduras assumes its corresponding responsibilities according to the purchase orders issued by INVEST-H.
