SLOVENIA, September 19 - The fast-paced, interactive linguistic event brought together representatives from 19 participating embassies and cultural institutes, giving attendees a unique opportunity to explore Europe’s rich linguistic and cultural diversity. Designed along the concept of speed dating, the initiative allowed participants to engage in dynamic, five-minute introductory sessions with native speakers, offering a lively and accessible entryway into dozens of foreign languages. An estimated 1,500 visitors were expected to attend throughout the day.
Beyond promoting multilingualism, the event underscores the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding in an increasingly interconnected world. Learning even a few basic words in another European tongue fosters cross-border relationships, breaks down cultural barriers and preserves Europe's unique intangible heritage.
This year marked the second time the Embassy of Slovenia took part in the event. Language enthusiasts and curious visitors dropped by the Slovenian booth to learn essential phrases, practise pronunciation and discover fun facts about Slovenia's language, including its rare retention of the dual grammatical form, as well as its rich cultural heritage and landscapes.
