Figure skater Sofia Dzepka won the first stage of the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Xi'an, China, scoring 213.28 points across two programs. Second and third place went to Chinese athletes Liu Yuxuan (189.57) and Jin Shusen (188.80).
Ekaterina Moiseeva's student led the short program and left her rivals no chance in the free skate. Sofia skated cleanly and confidently, with all her jumping elements executed with distinction, including a magnificent quadruple toe loop! Her non-jumping elements were rated Level 4!
In her free skate, set to music from "The Matrix," Sofia debuted a new look, performing a
program with contemporary choreography. However, the balletic grace of Sofia's "classical" programs remained, confirming the skater's wide range of abilities.Congratulations to Sofia, her coach Ekaterina Moiseeva, her choreographer Artem Fedorchenko, and her team on their outstanding international debut!

This is the second gold medal won by our juniors at a Grand Prix event. A few hours earlier, Maria Fefelova and Artem Valov took first place in the ice dance duets competition. In Xi'an, our athletes competed as neutrals after a four-year hiatus. All of our Grand Prix participants are making their international competition debut.
