Elena Kostyleva won the "Federation Cup" - the junior final of the Russian Grand Prix, scoring 230.34 points. Alisa Dvoeglazova won silver - 229.06, Margarita Bazylyuk - bronze - 220.04.
The winner of the Russian Championship Elena Kostyleva rose from fourth place after the short program to the final first place. The student of Evgeni Plushenko skated the free program with
two triple axels and three quads - a solo toe loop, two salchows in a combination and a cascade. The athlete renewed her points for the season in the free program - 161.48 points.
— For me, an unsuccessful performance (of the short program) does not mean that I should skate the free program differently. It was an accident for me, I pulled myself together and skated the free program absolutely calmly. Why did the butterfly happen? My skate slipped out from under me, I wanted to do an axel in a drag. It was my mistake, I should have just spun and done it.
-- Did you train this option in the short program, that if the first axel doesn’t work out, then the second element you jump is not a double axel, but a cascade - a triple axel plus a triple toe loop?
-- I didn't train. When my first triple axel didn't work out, I went to jump a cascade.
— Five ultra-si in the free program – is that the limit?
— There is no limit for anyone. Of course, I will increase my content and add quadruples.
-- What quadruples?
-- It's a secret for now.
— What else needs to be worked on?
— We need to work on the entries and the deduction in the free program. In the short program, we removed this deduction, in the free program, we shortened the entries, made them more difficult, but we will still try to shorten the entries.
— Who has such a strong character?
— Into parents.
Silver medalist of the Junior Russian Championships Alisa Dvoeglazova won silver at the second tournament in a row. Alisa confidently started her free program with a quadruple lutz, jumped a combination - quadruple toe loop + double axel and a solo quadruple toe loop. Since the skater slightly changed the content and did a combination with a quad, but did not quite successfully enter the quad, then in the second half of the program, during the course of the program, she replaced the well-trodden combination - triple lutz with two double axels with a cascade - triple lutz + Euler + triple salchow, which did not turn out perfectly, because of which Alisa, who was in the lead after the short program, lacked a little more than a point to retain first place.
— The change in content in the free program is related to the fact that during the performance on the first quadruple toe loop I was carried away, I realized that I wouldn’t be able to jump a double toe loop, I did a double axel to go for the second quadruple. It was necessary to rework the program so that there would be a cascade of three, but it didn’t help me.
— Do you practice such situations during training?
— Lately, this hasn't happened at training. I was thinking through all the options for the skate in my head. I realized that I didn't have to do the cascade...
I think the season was successful, we will move on.
Margarita Bazylyuk came in third, skating a free program with four ultra-si. The triple axel didn't work out, but the skater did three quads - a solo toe loop, a cascade - a salchow + a triple toe loop, and a combination - a toe loop with two double axels cleanly.
This season was uneven for the athlete due to objective circumstances, so the bronze in the Grand Prix final was a good result.
— I am not happy with the free program, I wanted everything to work out for me at this tournament and I would have skated both programs cleanly. But... What is my mood after the performance? Neutral. Of course, there is a feeling of joy.
— After the mistake on the first triple axel in the free program, how were you able to pull yourself together in the performance?
— At the Russian Championships, I was counting on the fact that I would do my first axel, and then everything would go on its own. I hardly trained quads, mostly axels. Now I have analyzed what happened at Russia, and decided with the coaches: if the axel doesn’t work out, you keep going. It will work out someday.
-- How do you rate the season?
-- The season was going downhill, it's probably connected with my head. Apparently, I'm doing something wrong.
— For objective reasons, not everything worked out at the start of the season and you were not always able to reveal your potential. How is your health now, how do you feel?
- It's fine. I don't want to jinx it...
Elizaveta Andreeva finished fourth in Kaluga with 210.99 points. The figure skater from Eteri Tutberidze's school skated a free program with three quads for the first time this season - a toe loop, a salchow in a cascade with a double toe loop and a solo salchow, setting a personal best of 152.08.
In Saransk, Liza attempted a quadruple toe loop for the third time and did it, before that she tried it at the Moscow tournament for the "President's Prizes of the FFKKM" and at the Junior Channel One Cup. At the Russian Championship, the athlete jumped a quadruple toe loop and a salchow, but miscalculated one of the cascades - she did only two instead of three, as a result of which she did not get enough points. In the final of the series, in the free program, the figure skater tried to show her maximum.
Lidiya Pleskacheva took fifth place – 204.68. Svetlana Panova’s student landed a quadruple salchow for the first time in the free program, which she failed to do at the Russian Championships, and at the beginning of the program she jumped a triple axel, updating her “sizn best” – 141.86 points.
Valeria Lukashova , another athlete from Eteri Tutberidze's school, finished sixth with 201.16. In Kaluga, Valeria attempted two triple axels in her free program for the first time this season, and did the first one in a cascade with a double toe loop.
The level of the women's tournament in the Junior Grand Prix Final was very high, with the exception of Agata Petrova, who has not yet performed ultra-c, but takes the lead with consistency and a second mark, all the other skaters went for triple axels and quadruple jump elements.
