The winner of the Russian Championship Lev Lazarev skated a clean short

program in the Grand Prix series final, falling just short of the "sizn best". Sergey Davydov's student coped with all the elements, performing them at the maximum difficulty levels and high GOE.

— How difficult is it to skate a short program in which you can’t jump quads?

— I can’t say that it’s much easier to skate than the free program, in which I have five quadruple jumps. In the short program, every second is filled with choreography, transitions, and I have difficult exits from triple jumps, except for the triple axel. My coach and I decided that I can skate it very well if I jump it cleanly. A beautiful position in the exit will also give a lot of advantages.

— Do you work a lot on non-jumping elements?

— Before this start, I worked a lot on non-jumping, especially on spins, I work on the sequence with a choreographer and I skate it myself during training. I understand how important it is for all non-jumping to be at level four.

— Previously, Stefan Lambiel demonstrated ideal spins. Who, in your opinion, has ideal spins today?

— I can’t say who has perfect spins. Almost all of the junior girls have big plus spins. I can’t single out anyone in particular. The boys have also started paying more attention to their spins. Since this season, everyone has improved a lot in jumps. Now you can’t jump everything and lose on non-jumps.

Nikita Sarnovsky after the first event - the second. Unlike the Russian championship, this time the student of the Evgeni Plushenko Academy, as promised, coped with the task. Nikita skated the program almost cleanly, with all the jumping elements. The step sequence is the third level, the rest - the fourth. And it was clear that the athlete improved in this "component".

According to Nikita, after the unsuccessful performance of the short program at the Russian Championships, he thought a lot. Even at that start, he realized that you can’t underestimate your opponent and overestimate your strength. Therefore, he simply prepared for the Grand Prix Final, trained a lot and tried not to overload himself with unnecessary thoughts.

Nikolai Kolesnikov  gave his best short program performance of the season in the series finale. The skater updated his personal best and cleanly jumped a triple axel, which was not always ideal in execution.

Svetlana Sokolovskaya's student made a mistake on the cascade - triple lutz + triple toe loop, but worked all the other non-jumping elements to level four.

Bronze medalist of the Junior Championship of Russia Makar Solodnikov  is fourth in the Grand Prix final after the short program - 79.42 with a personal best of the season. The athlete from Perm, a student of Ekaterina Patlasova and Alexey Glavatskikh skated the program very confidently, cleanly, only slightly lacking in the levels on the track and spin.

KOM 4495

Gleb Kovtun  after the short program - fifth - 78.64. The skater from Tyumen set his "sizn best" at this start. And this despite the fact that Gleb was forced to withdraw from the Russian championship in Saransk due to a problem with his skates. In a relatively short period, the skater managed to break in a new pair and skated in Kaluga on new skates - cleanly and with a personal best.

KOM 2968

German Lenkov closes the top six with 74.92. The figure skater from St. Petersburg, representing Alexei Mishin's group, did a decent job of skating the short program in Kaluga, also improving his personal best.

Silver medalist of the Russian championship Arseniy Fedotov - eighth - 70.51.

Winner of the Russian-Chinese Winter Games Vadim Voronov - tenth -- 67.07.
