RUSSIA: Alisa Dvoeglazova leads after short program at Fed Cup in Kaluga, Margarita Bazylyuk is second, Agata Petrova is third

Alisa Dvoeglazova won the short program at the Federation Cup in Kaluga, the junior final of the Russian Grand Prix, with 73.50, Margarita Bazylyuk was second with 72.83, and Agata Petrova was third with 70.93.

Silver medalist of the Russian Championship Alisa Dvoeglazova skated

the short program in the junior final with a personal best, performing all the elements at the maximum level. After the performance, the athlete honestly admitted that she did not expect to be in the lead after the short program, since this tournament brought together very strong figure skaters.

— I didn’t change anything in my preparation after the Russian Championship, because I didn’t have much time. We worked, skated programs. I’ll tell you a story, on Friday I had an incident after training. I couldn’t check into the hotel at the rink, I live in another one, the lights went out on the whole street, and I had to put on makeup and get ready in the dark with a flashlight.

-- It turned out pretty well.

-- I tried.

— Did you expect to see yourself in first place after the short program?

— Not at all. I saw that there were a lot of girls with more complex content. I didn’t think about it.

— Relatively recently, you won silver at the Russian Championship in Saransk. How do you manage to stay in shape?

- Eteri Georgievna (Tutberidze) will always help you stay in shape, she will always say the right words. Of course, we ourselves understand that we must represent our team with dignity.

Margarita Bazylyuk took second place after the short program. Another athlete from Eteri Tutberidze's group skated a short program with ultra-si in Kaluga. She jumped a cascade - triple axel + triple toe loop. The exit from the double axel was not ideal, but the skater coped with the rest of the content. All non-jumping elements are level four, the step sequence is level three.

Margarita refrained from making any comments after the performance. This is understandable, the season was not easy for Margarita.

Agata Petrova is a figure skater from St. Petersburg, training in Alexey Mishin's group. She is third after the short program. In the final, Agata skated the program cleanly, with her best result of the season at the series stages and the national championship.

The winner of the Russian Championship Elena Kostyleva  after the first event is fourth - 68.86. The athlete from the Evgeni Plushenko school started the performance quite confidently. And even despite the fact that she did a "butterfly" on the first axel, she jumped an ultra-si with the second element - a triple axel + triple toe loop and skated all the other elements with pluses. This demonstrated her strength of character and ability to quickly navigate the situation.

Valeria Lukashova - fifth - 67.29. In the final of the series, the first element of the program, the athlete of the Eteri Tutberidze group, performed a cascade - a triple axel + triple toe loop, which she tried at the beginning of the season at the "Sergei Grinkov Memorial" in Moscow.

127A9689

Lyubov Rubtsova - sixth - 65.82. The athlete from the Evgeni Plushenko Academy skated her short program with a cascade - triple lutz + triple loop in the second half of the program.
