Russian pairs took the entire podium at the sixth stage of the Grand Prix series in Sochi. Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov won the Rostelecom Cup, scoring 226.98 points for two programs. Daria Pavlyuchenko - Denis Khodykin became the second (212.59) and Yasmina Kadyrova - Ivan Balchenko - the third (193.58).
World champions in pair skating Anastasia Mishina - Alexander Gallyamov, who took second place after the short program, in the free skate gave a great ride to the music of Georgy Sviridov "Blizzard" and "Time,
forward!". The bronze medalists of the 2019 Grand Prix Final performed all the elements: cascade - triple salchow - oiler - triple salchow, triple toe loop, triple twist, ejections - triple flip and rittberger, as well as support for the fourth level. Students of Tamara Moskvina and Artur Minchuk scored 153.34 points, which totaled 226.98, and won the second victory in the Grand Prix series, having booked a place in the final."Today everything turned out much better than yesterday. I guess anger at myself played a role. I really wanted to roll back cleanly and prove that yesterday's mistake was an accident," Anastasia Mishina shared.
"Yes, we made mistakes yesterday, but we left this day in the past and today we were preparing for the rental from scratch," added Alexander.
Commenting on her second place after the short program at the Grand Prix in Sochi, Nastya explained:
"For us, the place in the short program does not matter much, because there is still an arbitrary one ahead. It didn't work out yesterday and we were upset about that, not because we were second."
"The result in the short program is important in order to qualify for the last warm-up," the partner said.
The leaders of the first day of the competition Daria Pavlyuchenko - Denis Khodykin also gave a decent rental of the free program to the music from the film "Black Swan". The medalists of the European Championship jumped a cascade - triple toe loop - triple toe loop - double toe loop (but the second triple toe loop received a "q" for a small undertwip). We did a triple twist and triple throws, as well as an interesting forward-outside todes. The only glitch occurred when Dasha made a mistake on the triple salch. Nevertheless, the athletes set a personal best of 138.68 points and received 212.59 for two programs. Students of Sergey Roslyakov and Sergey Dobroskokov won two silver medals at the Grand Prix stages in Vancouver and Sochi and will perform in the series final in Osaka, Japan.
"We are glad that we were able to show the images. Compared to the first Grand Prix in Canada, we were progressing, which was evident in the reaction of the audience. And we will continue to work, - said Denis.
"I am very inspired by the film "Black Swan" and I want to convey this slightly crazy, non-standard character of the heroine," Daria added.
Debutants of the Grand Prix series Yasmina Kadyrova and Ivan Balchenko generally coped with the free program. The athletes performed jumping elements: cascade – triple salcom – oiler – triple salco (the second jump was with an undertwist) and triple toe loop. But they made mistakes on the triple flip throw and lost the grip in the todes, which led to the fall of the partner, and the element was not counted. Athletes from St. Petersburg earned 124.19 points and became the third with 193.58 points.
"There are more good experiences than bad ones. It's cool to be in the top three at your first Grand Prix round. At the box office, unfortunately, not everything worked out. A completely ridiculous mistake happened on the todes. My hand just slipped out of Vanya's hand, but it's an experience. And the release... We do it in training, we did it in a warm-up," Yasmina commented.
"The excitement is confusing: we are in a hurry, we really want to, so so far not everything works out," the partner added.
"Over time, we will improve the programs. Work on sliding and interpretation, complicate elements. There will be no more starts before the Russian Championship, we will have to work what we have, the partner explained.
"We had conversations with Artur Leonidovich (Minchuk – approx.) about the quadruple twist and quadruple throw, but let's not speculate, we'll see, maybe we'll come back to this issue at the end of the season," Ivan said.
The athletes also commented on their decision to move to St. Petersburg in the "Tamara Moskvina Sports Club" during the Olympic season. Before that, they trained in Perm with Pavel Slyusarenko.
"Tamara Nikolaevna and Artur Leonidovich deal with everyone in the same way. It doesn't happen that they focus on just two pairs, single out some and leave the others unattended. They work with everyone. In training, we work very hard: no one stands idle, everyone plows without stopping. I think we did the right thing by moving. Everything that is done is for the best," Yasmina said.
