Former Babbel, Emma and Zalando tech leader to drive the next growth phase of the Hamburg AI career assistant
HAMBURG, GERMANY, October 7, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- In September, Andreas Westendörpf joined JobLeads, the AI career assistant serving more than 20 million job seekers in 42 countries, as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He leads JobLeads’ technology organization, with a focus on AI native
engineering and a platform that keeps pace with growth. The appointment comes as JobLeads extends its AI assistant across the whole career journey, from discovering a job to landing it. Westendörpf brings more than 20 years of experience in technology, product development and IT consulting, and has built and scaled tech organizations several times over.He joins JobLeads from Babbel, the language learning app based in Berlin, where he was most recently SVP Technology and previously Interim Chief Technology & Product Officer. Before that, as CTO, he led Emma (The Sleep Company) through strong international growth and its move to a composable commerce architecture. In 2017 he came to Hamburg as Managing Director and CTO of Engel & Völkers Technology. Earlier he led more than 100 employees at Zalando, following almost ten years as a management consultant.
“We wanted a CTO who has grown a tech organization through hypergrowth and rebuilt a platform while the business kept growing. Andreas has done both. With him, our engineering gets the pace the next phase of JobLeads demands,” says Martin Schmidt, Co-Founder and Managing Director of JobLeads.
Westendörpf sums up his leadership in a principle he calls “outcome over output”: what counts is the impact technology creates for users, not the volume of features shipped.
"Most of the AI that job seekers use serves employers. JobLeads builds AI that works for job seekers. My job is to put AI at the core of everything we do and, together with our teams, help candidates land their next job faster than ever," says Andreas Westendörpf.
Since 2022, Westendörpf has been an Ambassador of the MACH Alliance, an industry body for modular technology architectures. He has spoken at events including Web Summit and the OMR Festival and supports startups as a mentor, advisory board member and angel investor. A native of the Rhineland, he spent part of his school years in Geneva and Moscow and today lives with his wife and two sons in the east of Hamburg.
