PORTSMOUTH, DOMINICA, September 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The American Canadian School of Medicine (ACSOM), a fully accredited non-profit medical university in the Commonwealth of Dominica, today announced its

scholarship and financial aid program for the January 2027 cohort. Ninety-eight percent of accepted students receive a scholarship or financial aid award. Dominican nationals who qualify may attend tuition-free, with the university covering all four years of tuition.
Access to medical education remains limited by cost. ACSOM was built to address that directly. As a non-profit institution operating on a government-supported campus, the school holds four-year tuition and fees to $238,000, approximately 20% below the regional Caribbean average and well below U.S. private medical school rates. Expected total cost of attendance, including living expenses, is $385,000 to $390,000.

Scholarship Programs for January 2027:
- Dominican National Full-Tuition Scholarship: Valued at $214,000, covering all four years of tuition. Up to 10 awards available per year. Five Dominican students are currently enrolled, including the current student government president.
- Global Equity Scholarship: $53,500 distributed across eight semesters, open to international students from outside the U.S. and Canada, including applicants from Europe, Africa, and Asia.
- Merit-Based Awards: Recognizes academic excellence at admission and during enrollment.
- Total Aid: More than $5 million in total aid has been made available since the school's founding.

ACSOM has also arranged private lending for students at 9.85% or 13% interest rate for Fall 2026. This compares favorably to the 12% to 18% typical of private medical education loans. An institutional loan option is available for students who need it.
