On Wednesday 25 May at 11.30 am he will present his latest publication, The Italian Legacy in Philadelphia: History, Culture, People, and Ideas, published by Temple University Press, in front of a selected audience at the Centro Studi Americani, in Rome.

During a long and illustrious career, Andrea Canepari has been Ambassador of Italy to the Dominican Republic and Consul General in Philadelphia. In both roles, he has always promoted diplomatic initiatives to foster collaboration between Italy and the rest of the world. He is also co-editor of The Italian Legacy in Washington D.C.: Architecture, Design, Art and Culture, published by Skira, and editor of The Italian Legacy in the Dominican Republic: History, Architecture, Economics, and Society published by St Joseph University Press.

Counselor Canepari is also co-editor, along with Dr. Judith Goode (Professor Emerita and former president of the Society for the Anthropology of North America), of The Italian Legacy in Philadelphia History, Culture, People, and Ideas, a book that celebrates the history, impact, and legacy of Philadelphia's vibrant Italian community, retracing four periods of key transformations in political structures. economic and social of the city. The book's editors recount the changing dynamics of the city from the moment Italian immigrants settled, while continuing to have lively interactions with Italian communities and institutions.

Andrea Canepari was Ambassador of Italy to the Dominican Republic from 2017 to 2021. In 2017 he reopened the Embassy of Italy, inaugurating a new Diplomatic Chancellery and a new Residence, resuming political, cultural and economic relations. Between 2018 and 2021 it promoted three cultural years with hundreds of events in collaboration with institutions, companies, universities and local cultural centers to celebrate and highlight the significant common history that Italy and the Dominican Republic share, and to create new opportunities for collaboration for the future.

From 2013 to 2017, Councillor Canepari was Consul General of Italy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with consular authority for the States of Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. He has received numerous awards and over 200 mentions in print, radio and television. In 2016 he received the biennial "Global Philadelphia Award" from Temple University, awarded to those who stand out for their commitment to the development of the international relations of the city of Philadelphia. He has served on numerous committees and commissions, including the Papal Event Committee (on the occasion of the Pope's visit to Philadelphia in September 2015); the Presidential Advisory Committee of Jefferson University, which facilitated the creation of the first medical degree recognized in both Italy and the United States; and the International Advisory Board of the IUSS University of Pavia, Italy.

From 2006 to 2010 he was First Secretary for Political Affairs and Relations with the United States Congress at the Embassy of Italy in Washington, D.C. From 2002 to 2006 he was Head of the Economic and Commercial Office at the Embassy of Italy in Ankara.

Among the international decorations of the Councillor Canepari are that of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, Knight of Magistral Grace of the Order of Malta, the Grand Cross with Silver Star of the Order of Merit of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella and the Medal to the CSDP Service of EUFOR Libya for Planning and Support, conferred by the European Union. Councillor Canepari holds a bachelor's and master's degree in economics from Bocconi University (Milan, Italy) and a law degree from the University of Parma. He also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a Full Scholarship from the "Gianani Foundation" (awarded annually by the Italian Banking Association to a scholar par excellence academic).
