Canepari was Ambassador of Italy to the Dominican Republic and Consul General in Philadelphia. In both missions, he has always spent himself in promoting diplomatic and cultural initiatives that favored the creation of synergies with Italy. He is also the curator of The Italian Legacy in Washington DC: Architecture, Design, Art and Culture, published by Skira, and of The Italian Legacy in the Dominican Republic: History, Architecture, Economics, and Society, published by St Joseph University Press. .

Councilor Canepari is also the editor, together with Professor Judith Goode (Professor Emerita and former President of the Society for the Anthropology of North America), of The Italian Legacy in Philadelphia History, Culture, People, and Ideas, a book that celebrates history, the impact and legacy of Philadelphia's vibrant Italian community, retracing four periods of key transformations in the city's political, economic and social structures. The authors of the book recount the changing dynamics of Philadelphia starting from the moment of settlement of the Italians, who have continued to have lively interactions with communities and institutions in their homeland.

Councilor Canepari will present The Italian Legacy in Philadelphia: History, Culture, People, and Ideas together with a varied panel of interlocutors. The group will be composed of AUR English Writing, Literature and Publishing Professor Lisa Colletta (who also contributed a chapter of the publication entitled Philadelphia Society and the Grand Tour), AUR Trustee Joseph Torsella (Commonwealth State Treasurer of Pennsylvania), and Chris William Sanchirico (Professor of Law, Business and Public Policy and Co-Director of the Center for Tax Law and Policy at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School). The round table will be moderated by the AUR Trustee Neil Tanner (SVP and General Councilor of Finance, Strategy and International Markets at Cigna).
