Innovative technological and digital solutions are an essential prerequisite for the realization of the energy and heat transition”
— Stephan Segbers, Head of Sales at RheinEnergie
Cologne, GERMANY, December 16, 2024 / EINPresswire.com / -- RheinEnergie AG and Infosys, a global leader in next-generation digital services, are launching their first cooperation on the German energy market. With the help of an intelligent energy platform, they want to support companies from industry and the real estate sector in driving forward the energy transition and their respective
sustainability agendas. RheinEnergie and Infosys will now use the platform in a pilot project for Cologne/Bonn Airport to optimize the energy and heat supply there. As part of the collaboration, Infosys will support RheinEnergie and its customers in using the digital energy service platform. This helps companies save costs, improve energy efficiency and accelerate the implementation of their sustainability goals. Not only will cutting-edge technologies in the areas of cloud, data science, artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0 be implemented, but generation, storage, energy consumption and energy markets will also be networked. This enables companies to intelligently manage their energy flows, select the cheapest energy sources in real time, increase profits from local renewable energy generation and optimize their investments in plants.
"Innovative technological and digital solutions are an essential prerequisite for realizing the energy and heat transition," says Stephan Segbers, Chief Sales Officer at RheinEnergie. "Through Infosys' global expertise, cutting-edge technologies such as cloud and AI, and our experience in energy services, we can offer our customers sustainable and intelligent solutions for the efficient management of their energy systems."
"The energy landscape is undergoing significant change - and we are committed to helping companies across Europe manage their energy transition," adds Ashiss Kumar Dash, Executive Vice President and Global Head - Services, Utilities, Resources, Energy and Sustainability, Infosys. "Our solutions enable companies to gain a deeper understanding of their energy consumption patterns, identify optimization opportunities and ultimately achieve their decarbonization goals."
Pilot project at Cologne/Bonn Airport: Sustainably reducing emissions
The new, digital platform is starting its test operation at a long-standing partner of RheinEnergie: Cologne/Bonn Airport. Supported by AI, the project team can present optimization options in the entire energy supply, make it more efficient and thus reduce harmful emissions on site.
"We have been working for many years to position ourselves sustainably as an airport and to shape the mobility of the future. The cooperation with RheinEnergie and Infosys helps us to simplify the complex requirements through the sustainable restructuring of the energy and supply infrastructure and to achieve our sustainability goals - for travelers, for our environment and for our neighborhood," says Thilo Schmid, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH.
RheinEnergie has been ensuring the gas, electricity, cooling and heating supplies to Cologne/Bonn Airport for many years. The partners jointly operate several energy generation plants. In order to further reduce CO2 emissions, renewable energy plants are being increasingly built at the site itself and in the immediate vicinity of the airport. Climate protection has been on the airport's agenda for more than a decade. The company is decarbonizing its entire heat supply and wants to be completely climate-neutral by 2045.
