TRANSCRIPT INTERVIEW ABOUT FORMER PRESIDENT FIDEL V. RAMOS
Heritage Merorial Park - Taguig City

‎I: Sir, what's our fondest memory with FVR?‎

‎Sen. Dela Rosa: What I can't really forget is that she taught us "The Parable of the Sack of Rice." I can't forget that all the time. 'He's been visiting a detachment,' he said. When he arrived, the soldiers were eating, 'yung PCs. "What do you eat?" "Sir, sweet potato."‎

‎"Oh, why? You don't have rice?" "No, Sir." FVR returned to Crame, when he arrived at Crame, he told his aide. "Bring one sack of rice."‎

‎From Crame, he carries a heel of rice, take to the region. Arriving in the region, the

region's half sack reduced the rice before being sent to the province. When it comes to the province, it's reduced by half to 1/4 to the PC company. When it came to the PC company, 1/4 sack of rice, it took 1/4 leftovers. I've been sent to the sack. Just sack, empty.‎

‎When it comes to sacking the detachment, the PC's detachment commander says, "Hey, FVR might be asking for rice. Let's send rice because we're good rice here." He gave rice du'n to the sack, sent to Crame. Delivery to Crame, pass by company commander, when it comes to company commander, divided. Half of the 1/4 were sent to the province, when it came to the province reduced by 1/4. When it came to the region, it was 1/4 left, just a sack to Crame. When the sack arrived at Crame, FVR said, "Oh, thank you for our rice."‎

‎So that's all. It's interesting to say that but it's becoming like a guiding principle in dealing with the systemic corruption in the government bureaucracy. 'That's the way it is, it's reduced. So, I can't forget that he taught us.‎

‎I: Sir, what's FVR's outstanding stance that really hit you?‎

‎Sen. Dela Rosa: Being professional. We were still in the PMA, until we became independent until we grew up in service, our most standard professional military officer being "Tabako." Si FVR. He is our standard.‎

‎I: 'Yun, Sir, thank you.‎
