BARRA DE NAVIDAD, JALISCO, MEXICO, October 13, 2025 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Mexican skimboarder Yahir Valencia, originally from Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, was officially crowned champion of the Euro Skim Tour (EST) 2025, closing out a perfect season with his third consecutive victory at the Européen Skimboard Open, held from October 10 to 12 in La Tranche-sur-Mer, France.
Valencia is the first Mexican skimboarder to win the Euro Skim Tour title.Valencia won first place in the Men's Open category in the three stops of the circuit: Santa Cruz (Portugal), Caños de Meca (Spain) and La Tranche-sur-Mer (France). The Euro Skim Tour brought together an international field of professional skimboarders from Portugal, Spain, France, Brazil and Mexico. The 2025 circuit was held at three of the most iconic skimboarding venues in Europe, renowned for their world-class waves and strong local culture of the sport.
"I couldn't be happier for this achievement," Valencia said. "It has been an incredible journey, full of effort, dedication and discipline, and now I have nothing more to do than enjoy this. Special thanks to Zap Skimboards for their constant support, to my friends, my family and to all the people who sent me good vibes during this process. See you next year with more enthusiasm and energy than ever!"
Valencia has established himself as one of the most consistent competitors worldwide, finishing runner-up on the United Skim Tour (UST) – the main professional circuit in the world – in 2022 and 2023. Since 2022 he has earned five UST victories, including the 2024 El Rey de Lovers in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, home to some of the most demanding skimboarding waves globally.
Professional wave skimboarding combines elements of surfing and skateboarding: athletes run from the beach to catch incoming waves, gliding over the surface and executing advanced technical maneuvers as they return to shore. The discipline demands an exceptional combination of speed, timing and precision, qualities that Valencia demonstrated throughout the season.
Valencia's history is deeply tied to its humble roots in Barra de Navidad and Melaque, Mexico, home to some of the best skimboarding spots in the world. His older brother, Gerardo Valencia, was a United Skim Tour champion in 2021 and currently lives in Venice, Florida, where he works with his sponsor Zap Skimboards while continuing to compete professionally. Gerardo also gives back to his community by hosting the Melaque Magia every January, an event that inspires the next generation of Mexican skimboarders.
