"Your body is your vehicle for success. We're not trying to tell you what to do with drugs. We just want you to know the truth about them and what you're doing."

The Foundation for a Drug-Free World is a nonprofit public benefit corporation that provides youth and adults with fact-based information about drugs so they can make informed decisions and live drug-free lives. No one likes to be lectured about what they can and can't do, especially a teenager. Therefore, facts are provided to enable young people to decide not to use drugs from the start. Additionally, the Truth About Drugs campaign consists of activities they can join that encourage a drug-free life. These activities are simple, effective, and open to people of all ages.
Through a worldwide network of volunteers, 56 million educational brochures have been distributed, tens of thousands of drug awareness events have been held in 120 countries, and The Truth About Drugs public service announcements have been broadcast on 275 television stations. These materials and activities have helped people around the world learn about the destructive effects of drugs so they can make the decision for themselves not to use them.
Much is said about drugs around the world: on the streets, in schools, on the Internet, and on television. Some of it is true, and some is not. Much of what you hear about drugs actually comes from those who sell them. Reformed drug dealers have confessed that they would say anything to get others to buy drugs. One must not be fooled. Everyone needs the real facts to avoid getting hooked on drugs and to help them stay off them.
Sooner or later (if it hasn't happened already), a young person will be offered drugs. The decision to use them or not could drastically affect that life. Any addict will tell you they never expected a drug to take over their life, or maybe they started out “just with weed” and it was “just something to do” with friends. They thought they could handle it, and when they discovered they couldn't, it was too late. It's important to know the facts about drugs—not opinions, hype, or scare tactics.
The Truth About Drugs, a comprehensive multimedia program, is based on an enduring truth: the more children and young adults know about drugs, the less likely they are to try them. All this knowledge comes at no cost to you or your school. The educational package includes: An educator's guide containing lesson plans, essays, and assignments for a semester's worth of classes, all designed to encourage student participation. The award-winning documentary, The Truth About Drugs: Real People, Real Stories, features former drug users who survived the nightmare of addiction; 24 sets of the Truth About Drugs booklet series, 12 They Said/Lied posters. The full printed curriculum is available for educators, or if you prefer, you can download the easy-to-use educator guide app. All free.
The Truth About Drugs Education Kit is offered as a tool for educators teaching children 11 years and older in a classroom, group instruction, or community-based setting. If you do not teach in-class or learning groups, click here for information on the Truth About Drugs online curriculum or to access downloadable resources. During the celebration, the Foundation presented members of both institutions with plaques and certificates of recognition in honor of their hard work and dedication to youth, both in the Dominican Republic and the United States. The Foundation's board of directors in the country was also officially sworn in, consolidating its commitment to Dominican society. During the event, prevention books were distributed under the slogan: The Truth About Drugs.
