Collaboration agreement between Cotemar and the Maritime and Port University of Mexico (UMPM)

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO CITY, MEXICO, April 5, 2025 / EINPresswire.com / -- With the aim of promoting the professional development of young graduates with maritime training, Grupo Cotemar signed a collaboration agreement with the Maritime and Port University of

Mexico (UMPM), so that interns from said institution can carry out their professional practices with the possibility of being able to join the company at the end of their period.

This alliance formalizes the training and development program that Cotemar has been promoting for more than 15 years, in which Professionals in Development (PRODES) with a nautical profile have the opportunity to train in a real offshore environment aboard the various vessels operated by the company.

The program offers the training and conditions necessary for trainee officers to expand their experience at sea, as well as giving them the opportunity to become aspiring Engineer and Deck Officers upon completion of their training period.

"The signing of this collaboration with Cotemar is highly significant, as these actions strengthen maritime transport in Mexico, which is one of the current administration's priorities," said Captain Manuel Fernando Gutiérrez Gallardo, General Coordinator of Ports and Merchant Marine.

“This agreement is very satisfying for us, as it helps us better prepare our personnel who will operate our offshore units with the utmost efficiency and safety. We are confident that this collaboration will yield excellent results for the benefit of our university, the oil industry, and our beloved Mexico,” said the Director General and Rector of the Maritime and Port University of Mexico, Capt. Mauricio Cruz Reyes.

The Maritime and Port University brings together the country's existing merchant nautical schools, located in Tampico, Veracruz, and Mazatlán. It is responsible for the academic and professional training of young people interested in working in both the public and private port sectors.

Through these types of initiatives, Cotemar promotes access to work experiences for new generations of professionals who contribute their talents to Mexico's economic and social development.
