Key highlights
In 2024, AV-Comparatives conducted a series of comprehensive tests to evaluate each product's ability to:

Outstanding performance
While all evaluated products met the standards and were certified, some stood out for their exceptional performance:
- ESET HOME Security Essential: Awarded the Product of the Year Award 2024, ESET achieved the highest rating of "Advanced+" in all seven tests, underlining its superior protection capabilities.
- Avast Free Antivirus: Awarded as a Top-Rated Product, Avast received the "Advanced+" award in six of seven tests and the "Advanced" award in one test, and secured the Gold Award in the Real-World Protection Test.
- AVG Internet Security: AVG, also a Top-Rated Product, was able to repeat Avast's performance with "Advanced+" in six tests and "Advanced" in one test, and received the Gold Award in the Real-World Protection Test.
- Bitdefender Total Security: As a top-rated product, Bitdefender was awarded "Advanced+" in six tests and "Advanced" in one, and received the Gold Award in the Malware Protection Test.
- Kaspersky Standard: Recognized as a Top-Rated Product, Kaspersky achieved "Advanced+" in six tests and "Advanced" in one test, and received the Gold Award in the False Positives Test.
Additional Recognitions
The following products also showed very commendable performance:
- Avira Free Antivirus: In the Real-World Protection Test, Avira Free Antivirus was awarded the Gold Award, highlighting its robust defense against Internet threats.
- McAfee Total Protection: Received the Gold Award in the Performance Test, reflecting minimal impact on system performance.

Areas for Improvement
While most products performed excellently, Trend Micro Internet Security and Quick Heal Internet Security had areas that need improvement to catch up with the industry leaders. AV-Comparatives encourages these vendors to analyze the detailed results to improve the effectiveness of their products in future evaluations.
