Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, 18 January – The World Economic Forum and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City will establish a Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Viet Nam (C4IR Viet Nam) in June 2024 that will focus on green growth, smart cities and artificial intelligence.
C4IR Viet Nam will be hosted by the Saigon Hi-Tech Park, one of
Viet Nam's two national hi-tech parks and considered one of Ho Chi Minh City's five focal economic projects serving as the driving force for the city's development.“The establishment of a Fourth Industrial Revolution Centre is a significant milestone in the partnership between the Forum and Viet Nam, geared to help advance Viet Nam’s ambitious innovation and growth agenda through international, multi-stakeholder collaboration,” said Jeremy Jurgens, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum.
C4IR Viet Nam will be a platform through which the nation will shape the development of local and national Fourth Industrial Revolution strategies in line with its national development strategy and contribute to the global trajectory of these technologies.
Phan Văn Mãi, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said: “The establishment of the C4IR in Ho Chi Minh City holds great significance not only for the city's major development goals, but for national priorities too. In addition, Ho Chi Minh City can participate in global initiatives of the World Economic Forum, thereby establishing a comprehensive ecosystem to promote new growth drivers, attract investment, and enhance economic competitiveness. The Centre will be a reliable and effective platform to boost cooperation between Vietnamese experts, researchers and businesses with international partners.”
The Centre is the second to be established in South-East Asia, following the launch of C4IR Malaysia in 2023, and aims to become a hub of expertise to co-design and pilot future-focused policy frameworks that enable the development and deployment of technology regionally and globally.

The Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution is a platform for multistakeholder collaboration, bringing together public and private sectors to maximize technological benefits to society while minimizing the risks. The World Economic Forum launched the first C4IR in San Francisco in 2017, shortly followed by Centres in Japan and India. The network now includes Centres in Austin (Centre for Trustworthy Technology), Azerbaijan, Brazil, Colombia, Detroit (US Centre for Advanced Manufacturing), Germany (Global Government Technology Centre Berlin), Israel, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Qatar, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Telangana (India) and the United Arab Emirates.
